Video clips...

I have a few video clips that I took through the year.  If you would like a copy of them, please send a disc to school and I will download them for you.  I will be sending home a disc in your child's backpack Wednesday or Thursday.  The disc includes all of the pictures that I took throughout the year.  You should be able to take the disc to a store and choose the pictures that you would like printed.  If your disc does not work for some reason, please let me know right away and I will get you a replacement.  The disc goes in your computer not your dvd player, etc.  The disc did not have enough room for all of the video clips.  Some of the clips that I would put on the disc are: New Year's resolutions, Mother's Day message, Things I Learned in Kindergarten, etc.  I will just include your child's videos on the disc.  Please call or stop by if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Lots of items in the coat room...

If you get a chance please come and check out our coat room.  There are lots of snow pants, boots, mittens, etc. that the students have not claimed.  If your child is missing any of these things please stop by before Friday.  If no one has claimed them by Friday I will donate them to the school's winter clothing.

Last day of school....

Don't forget that the last day of school (Thursday, June 2nd) will be a half day not a full day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:05 on Thursday.  Please let me know if your child will be going home differently on Thursday.  Thanks!

New games...

We have been using scrabble letters to build CVC words.  We then add up the numbers on the bottom of each scrabble letter and write an addition problem.

Here we shake the bottle and looks for words inside the bottle.

We have two versions of Candyland.  One version we have to say the letter name and sound and the other version when we have to say a word that begins with the letter we landed on.

End of Year Picnic

Check out our end of the year picnic photos.  Special thanks to: Dena, Cheyenne, Steve, Jennifer, and Renee for helping with the end of the year picnic.  At the end of the day when the students shared about their day they said the picnic and ice cream sundaes were the best part.

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU so much to everyone who has been sending in water bottles, plastic baby food containers, butter containers, cool whip containers, paint sticks, board games, etc.  I really appreciate how many families have sent in items.  The students are loving all of the new things that I have been able to make.  They come in everyday and look around the room to see if I have made a new games.  Please keep sending any of these things that you have at home and are not using.  We would really like to find some pringles cans to use for word family building if you have any or you have family that can save them.
Check back soon for pictures of all of our new games, etc.

Yearbooks Have Arrived!

If you ordered a yearbook for your child it was sent home in backpacks today.  If your child did not order a yearbook they had an autograph page that their friends could sign (they were also sent home today) instead.

Summer Papers

Did everyone receive summer work packets?  If not, please contact me at school and let me know so that I can send a new set of packets home.  There were three packets total (June, July, and August).

On Monday, each student also should have brought home a ziploc bag full of summer math worksheets and A to Z reading books.  If you are unsure of any of the games, etc. please let give me a call and I can explain them to you.

Don't forget...

We will be going to the historical museum tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:45.  Please make sure that your child is wearing proper shoes/clothing to walk to the museum (located by fair grounds).

Read-A-Thon

Our read-a-thon day was a HUGE success. Thanks so much to all of the parents, teachers, and Hawthorne staff that came and read to our class and to all of the kindergartener students. The students told me multiple times throughout the day that it was the "BEST DAY EVER."  Click on Ben's picture to see more photos from the day.

Read-A-Thon Pajama Day!

Friday, May 13th we will be having a read-a-thon day in kindergarten.  I thought it would be nice if parents could come throughout the day and read their favorite book to our class.  If you would be willing to come and read to our class, please e-mail or call me and let me know what time would work best for you.

Don't forget that your child should wear pajamas to school on Friday and they may bring a blanket to lay on throughout the day when they are reading independently or listening to someone read.
