Hawthorne Literacy Night

Kindergarten Sampler
If you have or know someone who has a kindergartener coming to Hawthorne in the fall remind them that we have kindergarten sampler on Tuesday night from 6:30-7:30.
AIMSWEB testing
Just a reminder that students have their end of the year testing on Wednesday. They will be pulled throughout the day and tested in a few area in reading and in math. Please make sure your child gets a good breakfast and good nights sleep. Thanks!!

Class Visit
I will be visiting next Thursday afternoon. Can't wait to see the kids and for them to meet Mckenzie!!
Inferences
Kindergarteners are working on making inferences to draw conclusions. They have been practicing using information they already know about their world to help them connect and draw conclusions to what they are reading.
Computer Lab
The kindergarteners went to the computer lab today and learned how to put 3d shapes in a word document. Sounds like they did an awesome job!!!

Walk-a-thon
Students will be leaving Hawthorne at 10:00 am on Friday. Please make sure they have sunscreen on and proper shoes and clothing. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Niest. Thanks!!

Cinco de Mayo
Students from ALHS came today and taught the kindergarteners some words in Spanish. They specifically learned colors and some names of animals. Be sure to ask your child what they learned.

Walk-a-thon
Don't forget to get all of your paperwork turned in for the walk-a-thon next week (Friday). Make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, wears walking shoes not sandals, wears sun tan lotion, and brings a paper bag lunch.

Visit
I will be coming to school on Thursday, May 15th to visit the kids. Can't wait for them to meet Madison. Hope everyone is doing well!!!
