Class Party Planning


It’s time to plan the Holiday Party.  If you can help plan the party please come at 3:00 on Wednesday, November 28th.  We will meet in my room for 30 minutes and decide what we would like to do for the party.  The party will be on Thursday, December 20th from 1:15-2:30 rather than Friday, December 21st as I will be out of town.

Book Fair - Coin Challenge



Our school is participating in a grade level coin drive called the Coin for a Day Challenge.  Each day represents a different type of coin.  The grade generating the highest overall total will receive $75 in books from Scholastic!!

·        Penny Monday, December 3rd
·        Nickel Tuesday, December 4th
·        Dime Wednesday, December 5th
·        Quarter Thursday, December 6th
·        Any Coin Monday, December 10th

If you have loose coins hiding under couch cushions, floor mats, in pants pockets, or the bottom of your bag, put them to good use by giving students more access to books they’ll want to read!  Our school will use the donations to purchase books for classroom libraries.

Muffin Morning



Thanks to everyone who made it to Muffin Morning today! It was soooooooooo nice seeing so many students with their families.

Mrs. Nielsen...


Mrs. Nielsen came and visited today and talked to students about having self control with friends and their emotions.  Students are working on an emotion packet where Mrs. Nielsen tells them an emotion and they have to draw a picture of what the persons face would look like if they felt that way.

Mrs. Nielsen


Mrs. Nielsen came today and did a following directions activity with us.  Kindergartners were given 2 step directions and had to color the pictures a certain color on their paper.

Roll a Turkey


In math today, we used dice and rolled different parts of the turkeys body.  Check out one of the turkeys that a student made. 

Here is the turkey key if you want to roll a turkey at home:
1 - head
2 - face
3 - 1 wing
4 - 1 foot
5 - face and wattle
6 - 1 feather

Letter B


We have been learning about the uppercase and lowercase b today and yesterday.  Ask your child to tell you some words that begin with the letter b.  Ask them what sound the letter b makes.

Reminder...


Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to go outside each day.  We go outside if it is 0 degrees or above.  They need to have coat, hat, mittens/gloves, snow pants, and snow boots.  If they do not have snow pants and boots they will not be allowed to go on the playground (they will stay on the black top).

Special Treat...

A group of 5th graders came to our room today and worked with the kindergarteners on their letter names, letter sounds, number id, sequencing, and even read some books to them.  WOW!  The kindergarteners and 5th graders were so engaged and excited to be working together.  Thanks 5th graders for visiting us today! :)  Hope you come back and visit us again soon!
