Did you forget to order a yearbook?  If so, it is not to late to purchase one.  Please send a check for $11.00 (written to Hawthorne PTO) or cash to the office and we will send a yearbook home with your child.

Reading Rocks/Math Rolls Assembly

Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Lion, and the Tin Man, along with other Wizard of Oz characters, performed a delightful play about “characterization” at our most recent ‘Reading Rocks and Math Rolls’ assembly.
Mrs. Boersma’s fourth grade class performed selected (and abbreviated) scenes from the classic movie, as written by their teacher, Ms. Boersma. Throughout the performance, the students ‘paused’ their actions to identify the character traits of the main characters and encouraged the audience to participate in answering questions.
The play was quite professional, as the students were in costume, had memorized their lines, spoke clearly and used animated gestures and actions. They captivated their audience.
