THANK YOU TIMES A MILLION

Thank you so much to everyone who picked up helping hands at conferences and donated items to our classroom.  The wipes will come in the most handy as we have had so many students out with strep, stomach flu, etc.  Mrs. Sorenson and I have been doing our best to get everything sanitized at the end of each day and hoping to not spread as many germs.  I hope that everyone gets lots of rest over winter break and comes back healthy and ready to jump right back into learning. Thank you so much for a wonderful first trimester! I look foward to seeing everyone back at school on Thursday, January 2nd! Please feel free to cotnact me over break if you need anything.  Thanks! Happy Holidays!

Writing Over Winter Break...

Below are some ideas of things that your child can write about over winter break.  After your child writes 1-2 sentences have them draw a picture.  Have them bring in their writing when we return to school and I can read all about what you did.  If you need some paper let me know and i can send some home.

·       What are you going to do on your vacation?

·       If I owned a toy store I would...

·       My favorite holiday cookies are...

·       The gingerbread man jumped out of the oven and...

·       Oh, no, it snowed and I can't...

·       How will you celebrate New Years?

·       I looked out my window and saw…

·       What I learned so far this school year is...

·       I am happy when…

·       I am learning about…

·       I love my name because…

·       Kids like me because…

·       My favorite color is_____.  List all the things that are that color.

·       When I grow up I want to be...

·       Our classroom is special because…

·       Tell me what you know about winter.

·       Tell me one thing you would like me to know about you and why.

Tattling Lesson with Mrs. Nielsen

Mrs. Nielsen came and talked to our class about tattling and when we should report it and when we should not.  Here are the rules we learned below...

1. BE a Danger Ranger (If a person or animal is in danger, you must warn someone.)
2. Be a Problem Solver (If the problem involves YOU, take charge and try Hard to solve it yourself first.)
3. Now or Later? (Is the problem a "NOW" problem or a "NOT NOW" problem? Can your problem be solved at a later time."
4. Mind Yuor Own Beeswax (If the problem is not dangerous and it does not involve you...DO NOT TATTLE!)

A sheet was sent home with your child today to hang up at home.

Reader's Theater

We will be practicing the script "About Me" this week.  Students were assigned parts today and will be working with their groups tomorrow.  The students will also highlight their parts so they can bring them home and practice.  Please be looking for the sheet tomorrow to practice with your child.  Thanks so much!
